BROOKLYN PUBLIC SCHOLARS at KCC

Brooklyn’s Public Scholars builds the capacity of Kingsborough Community College to engage with the critical issues facing our students and working-class urban immigrant communities. Brooklyn’s Public Scholars supports community-based teaching and engaged scholarship to expand opportunities for studying critical urban issues including gentrification, rising sea levels and climate change, food sustainability, public education, immigration, among others. Cultivating new opportunities for ‘studying abroad in your own backyard,’ Brooklyn’s Public Scholars focuses on teaching and research projects that engage with Brooklyn’s communities. The project builds upon faculty members’ own research projects and interests to develop strategic partnerships with community organizations for engaged scholarship. MORE »
